Mercedes-Benz is teaming up with Saks Fifth Avenue to sponsor a cross-country fundraising road trip which will highlight the 10th anniversary of KEY TO THE CURE.
Lori Raimondo will embark on a 5,000-mile journey from San Francisco to New York City behind the wheel of a newly designed Special Edition S550 Sedan, raising money — and awareness — for a cause very close to her heart. When she lost her mother, Lorraine, to breast cancer in August 2005, Raimondo decided to take action. On Mother’s Day 2006, she hit the road for her first trip to raise money for breast cancer, with the goal of raising $9,490 — one dollar for every day her mother battled the disease. After two-and-a-half months in a car, she zoomed passed that goal, pulling in a whopping $13,486.
Raimondo is again driving for her mom and for all women affected by cancer. Her trip will include planned stops in 10 cities, where she’ll meet with cancer survivors, local businesses, media, and community partners. She’ll post regular blogs along the way, and will encourage everyone she meets to read the blog, post comments, upload photos, and share their own stories.
