We are so excited for HBO’s 2019 lineup! The network has some of the best programming on television and they’re not stopping anytime soon. You’re going to be thrilled if you’ve been waiting for new seasons of “Game of Thrones,” “Big Little Lies” and “True Detective.”
Pay special attention at the 1:11 mark in the trailer below if you are looking for Season 8 “Game of Thrones” footage. It’s a brief glimpse at the anticipated reunion between Jon Snow and Sansa Stark at Winterfell. (The two characters were last seen together during “Stormborn,” the second episode of Season 7, when Jon left Winterfell and put Sansa in charge.)
In the first footage from season 2 of “Big Little Lies,” we see Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon back in the roles of Celeste Wright and Madeline Mackenzie. The characters appear to be having an encounter with new addition Meryl Streep, who is taking on the role of Mary Louise Wright. Streep’s character, the mother of Perry Wright (Alexander Skarsgård), comes to Monterey after her son’s death and stirs up trouble for Celeste and Madeline.

Game of Thrones, Big Little Lies, True Detective & More Coming Soon to HBO
As with seasons 1 and 2, the third season of “True Detective” hails from creator and showrunner Nic Pizzolato, but it presents a brand new story, new mystery, and new characters. Oscar-winning Moonlight actor Mahershala Ali leads this Arkansas-set tale, which plays out in three separate time periods as a state police detective digs deeper into the heart of a macabre crime.
This trailer (see below) offers a taste of Ali’s performance as well as the Northwest Arkansas setting (where it was also filmed), and is Stephen Dorff playing Ali’s partner? We also catch glimpses of Carmen Ejogo and Scoot McNairy, and we see a little bit of the time jumps which appear to find the actors donning old age makeup.
