When Robb Report invited Corum to create a set of watches for the Robb Report Limited Edition Series, the company’s watchmakers decided to incorporate the innovations of the past several years into two limited edition tourbillon timepieces, one in platinum, the other in 18k white gold encrusted with a dazzling array of black diamonds. As a final touch, they chose to accent each tourbillon with eye-catching red ruby screws. $550,000.00
Corum broke out the diamonds—18.79 carats in all—for the 46 mm Billionaire Tourbillon, which comes encased in 18k white gold with a black crocodile strap and 18k white gold folding clasp. A total of 726 stunning black diamonds surround the open back, while 44 white diamond baguettes spell out the Roman numerals on the dial. The mechanical Corum 372 movement is based on a La Joux Perret 7910 with 16 jewels and a 90-hour power reserve.
The Tourbillon Panoramique is a study in elegant simplicity. Set in a 38 mm x 53 mm platinum case with a black crocodile strap, the watch features skeleton hour and minute hands and an open back with antireflective coating. Its mechanical Corum 382 movement is based on a LaJoux Perret 7951, with 16 jewels and a 90-hour power reserve.
