Luxury Cell Phone & Timepiece In One: Ulysse Nardin Chairman Android

For those who are fans of luxury cell phones, you’ll be interested in this bit of news. The ultra exclusive Ulysse Nardin Chairman handset is now available to pre-order running on the Android operating system.

The Ulysse Nardin Chairman, announced first early last year at Baselworld in Switzerland, is jumping off the Windows Mobile platform in favor of the Google Android OS that’s quickly garnering widespread support.

Ulysse Nardin has also seen fit to update the tech specs of the device to bring it in line with the current crop of regular smart phones on the market.

Whilst horology is clearly where the company’s considerable talents lie, it’s good to see that Ulysse Nardin has drafted in the help of SCI Innovations to help on the technical side. It’s a rare day that a luxury handset actually has features befitting the exterior, but with the Chairman this seems to be the case.

Highlights of the revamped Chairman include:

An 8-mega pixel snapper
3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display
Fingerprint recognition
3G connectivity
32GB internal memory
According to the report at UnwiredView, the Chairman will also feature “extensive gaming ability”, presumably off the back of its ARM-based Freescale i.MX processor. As well as all this goodness, the Chairman is also said to include a pre-installed Facebook app and support HD video playback.

Now, clearly the asking price is going to be north of ‘quite expensive’, but just how far north is up to you. Each handset is customisable, meaning that the cheapest combo will total $12,800 and the most expensive comes with a staggering $49,500 dollar price tag.
